Google Analytics™ Integration Overview
In 2007 Mongoose Metrics developed the first phone call tracking integration solution for Google Analytics™. Our customers are able to track phone calls and see the phone call data from within their Google Analytics™ reports. Call activity can be logged back to Google Analytics™ reports when a Google Analytics™ account holder associates a URL that contains their on-page tracking code with a Mongoose Metrics tracking number. When the trackable phone number is dialed and the phone call is connected, our phone call server will also place an automated browser visit to the URL you specified. In this way, the offline phone call activity is logged back to Google Analytics™ reports.
We suggest you use the Google Analytics™ URL Builder, in order to further tag the phone call activity to include campaign source, medium, term, content and name. By further tagging the URL of your hidden web page you can enjoy much richer campaign information.
Set-Up Instructions
Procure a Mongoose Metrics phone number. As a part of the phone number setup, enter both the desired destination phone number and define the URL to your web page with your on-page tagging analytics code. Be sure to use the Google Analytics™ URL Builder tool to further tag the link with any campaign information you wish to save.
That's it! When the tracking phone number is dialed, the Mongoose Metrics phone server will issue an automated browser visit to your specified URL. This will represent the call activity back to your Google Analytics™ reports.

A phone call is expressed as a unique visitor with one page view. By using the Google URL Builder to help define the medium of the campaign as, 'phone' you can infer that one unique visitor is equal to one phone call.
Where do I view Mongoose Metrics phone call activity within my Google Analytics™ reports?
We suggest using the Google Analytics™ URL Builder to properly tag the tracking URL of your hidden web page. In the tracking URL define campaign medium as, for example, 'phone' and use campaign name to represent the name of your marketing campaign. To view offline phone call activity you can click on 'Campaigns' in the left menu of Google Analytics™ under the 'Traffic Sources' section. From there, you'll see the campaign of the offline tracking phone number, but only if you tagged the link using the Google URL Builder.
How are calls which are not answered handled?
If the tracking phone number is dialed and connected to the destination number, our phone call server will place a visit to your hidden tracking page. This will include calls that go unanswered.
