INDEPENDENCE -- While the entire nation saw millions of jobs slashed, some sectors are slowly adding jobs.  One area looking for employees is the tech industry.  

Mongoose Metrics in Independence, Ohio started up three years ago.

The company runs a website that helps marketers track what consumers are searching on company websites.  It then records information on what they are looking for, and when the consumer calls a customer service line, the call center already has their website search history.  

This is the type of company that is booming, and in turn, looking to hire.

"What we do with our company is we have proprietary patent pending technology that helps marketers make intelligent decisions about their marketing dollars that they're spending. So, that particular skill set is very viable regardless of how the economy is going," says Mongoose Metrics CEO Brad Reynolds.

The largest growth is in tech companies providing a smarter and faster way to communicate and gather information. 

Reynolds says he plans on hiring a couple dozen new employees, mostly sales positions and technical support.

He's looking for people with a certain skill set, and it might not be what you think.

Reynolds isn't looking for a computer genius or someone who is proficient in several computer programs.  He wants an employee with the ability to learn and to problem solve.

"As long as you have this skill set, its not as important to have read every technical book and have experience in a myriad of technical areas, the most important thing is - do you have an entrepreneurial spirit,"  he says.
